The Lakers named after the Lake Ave. area started out as a Softball team in 1961, The guys hung out in Ray's Bar and Grill on Lake Ave. After the 61' season was over the Lakers A.C. was formed and started having general meetings. The first Meeting was held in the Recreation Room at the top street of Mulford Gardens. Meeting after were held at other locations. The Lakers first clubroom was located at 253 South Broadway, moving a couple of time over the years reside now at 116 Lake Ave. on the second floor next to the Knights of Columbus.

The Lakers also founded the Lakers Slo-Pitch league in 1962 which ran for over 25 yrs. Eight years later the Lakers won the League championship and also the Yonkers city Championship in 1979.

In 1964 the Lakers were incorporated in the State of New York. In the mid sixties we started a tradition that still goes on today. Marching in the Yonkers St. Patrick's Day Parade followed by a delicious free corned beef dinner party at the club for all. For over 20 years now, we are also Involved with the Annual Memorial Service at Lennon Park.

The Lakers always been community minded, from helping raise monies for family's that went thru tragic losses or teaming up with other clubs to raise money for various causes. Over the years, the Lakers have been a prime sponsor of the North Yonkers Boys and Girls Club, and remain the senior of all their sponsors. For the past 10 years along with the City of Yonkers Parks, and Recreation and Conservation, run an annual Lakers A.C.
